Looe is a small town on the south-eastern coast of Cornwall. In the late nineteenth century Looe became a tourist destination for holidaying Victorians and this carried over into the twentieth century. The origins of the Looe Pisky are a mystery but probably relates to this phase of the town’s history and this coincides with other south-western attempts to cash in on the supposed luck of the Cornish pixy. There were even horse brasses made!
